Joanna was a beautiful soul . Joanna was wonderful daughter who was similar to her mother in generating warmth , love , kindness , great humour and acceptance with anyone she was in company with . She was a supportive and loving sister to two great guys. She was brilliant and made her parents proud with her wonderful family ,educational perseverance  and successful career. Joanna was elegantly simple , beautiful and strong,  with a passion for life and family . She was my cousin and wonderful person to have known and to be around . Joanna showed much dedication as a wife and mother to her family . She was a pillar of strength, love and acceptance. Joanna brought joy to many and will be remembered as an unforgettable warm presence  . She was my cousin, my role model, my Captain Marvel of a woman . Joanna was a brilliant lady who accomplished so much with bringing much love, acceptance and compassion  to any situation or  hardships she faced.  She was beautiful , beautiful soul. I was so fortunate to have known her .

Who could not love Joanna? She had the sweetest personality ever!!! Twelve years ago during my interview at our workplace Cleveland Clinic,  Joanna and I had a special connection that remained up to her passing.

Joanna had a wealth of knowledge in all areas of the Finance Department. She would always find ways to make our job much easier.

Joanna was also very personable and was always interested and excited to know more about my weekends and would always inquire about my family. 
I came to realize she loved family and spending time with family in the states & abroad.
My last text conversation the Sunday prior to her passing was regarding just that ….time spent with family. 

I could make my written memories of Joanna as long as our weekly texts or phone conversations but I would just sum it up to say she was an “AMAZING” woman and I will miss her dearly. 

Joanna will be Forever Remembered and Forever Missed!!

Dear Family & Friends,

My cousin Joasia was a lovely, extremely positive, strong and hard working woman. When she married on June 7th, 1986, I had the honor to be her flower girl at her wedding. Her dear mama "Ewa" hand sowed my dress to match hers. Joasia has given me a beautiful bracelet with pink hearts on it, which I still kept to this day and will be my souvenir from her.

She was very family oriented and  even when she moved to the United States with her family, it was always important for her to come visit her Montreal family whenever she got a chance, since she thought it was important her children to know the Sychterz cousins.

When I graduated from university, she was extremely proud and excited that a Sychterz woman has followed her foot steps and joined her accounting profession. Whenever we would get a chance to see each other, we would often discuss the joys & challenges of the finance world. Although she was a highly educated with a successful career, she remained down to earth and extremely sweet.

The Montreal family was blessed to see her for the last time at Thomas's wedding in September 2019. Despite the flight from Florida was very difficult for her giving her condition, she was super excited to join us to this event. With her joyful attitude, it was beautiful to see her dance to Polish music and enjoy every minute. It was impossible to see she was battling with a strongly advanced cancer.

Joasia was an  exceptional woman who spend her life partially in Poland, in  Canada and in the United States. She will be deeply missed and we will remember her every year on Canada day.

Dear family,

I am very sadden that Joasia left us so early. I first met my cousin Joasia in Poland when I was around 4 years old at babcia’s and dziadzia’s Sychterz house in Kupienin. I have the best old video as a memory of that encounter. Later on, when I came to Canada at 9 years old, I would see and spend time with Joasia on enormous occasions( even living in the house with Wojek and ciocia) and she was like a big sister. As I got older, she trusted me in babysitting her very young Katrina and James and always left me the best snacks ever! She was an amazing cousin, and what I will miss about her the must is her giggles and her soft and gentle soul. Also the way she would call my mom « Goska » with a huge smile and enjoying my parents polish food. My latest memory of her is seeing ger dancing to polish music like in the good old days at my brother’s wedding. I am so glad she came from Florida and had the opportunity to talk and laught with her.  All my thoughts and prayers are with you❤️

I saw Joanna for the first time (in Poland I called her Asia) when she was 2 weeks old. Smiling face and beautiful long eyelashes. She was a joyful child. When we met again after a long break, she was a beautiful, joyful teenager. Always cheerful and smiling, nice and kind. We were supposed to meet, but life had its own script. You will remain in our memory forever.

Pierwszy raz zobaczyłam Asię, jak miała 2 tygodnie. Uśmiechnięta buzia i piękne długie rzęsy. Była radosnym dzieckiem. Kiedy po długiej przerwie znów się spotkałyśmy była piękną, radosną nastolatką. Zawsze pogodna i uśmiechnięta, miła i życzliwa.  Miałyśmy się spotkać, ale życie miało swój scenariusz. Pozostaniesz w naszej pamięci na zawsze.

This was very unexpected and so sad to hear that Joasia passed away. Not even two weeks before her death we have been chatting on Facebook and planning to catch up. I never had opportunity to meet her personally but I felt like I knew her very well. My dad and her uncle was telling me always a lot of stories when she and her brother Peter spend many holidays in his house while they have been kids. He loved her probably as much as his own children. It makes him really sad knowing that Asia is not here anymore. 
Dear cousin you have been so young yet. You should enjoy life with your family. You will be missed hugely. I am sending to whole family our condolences.

Dear Joanna

We will miss you very much.

You left us too soon at only 58 years old, leaving your loving family and loved ones in Florida and Montreal.
You were always so kind and smiled to everyone.
Our family in Montreal have beautiful memories of the days together when our children were little and played together at your mom Ewa and dad Josef's house.

We spent all our holidays and other occasions until you went to Florida with your family.
You fought bravely with your illness and despite your illness you flew from Florida to Montreal for our son Tom's wedding to meet our whole family.
I just didn't know that it would be our last meeting, but I will remember you so happy and cheerful.
I was sure that we would meet again despite Covid 19.
I always felt you would overcome the disease because you fought hard.
But you didn't make it, despite the daily struggle and the great pain you had and all the medication you took.

We will pray and remember you Joanna, because we have lost such a wonderful person. The beautiful memories with you Joanna will remain in our memory forever.

Joanna was my next door neighbor, and like me, a cat lover!  As a matter of fact, one of her cat’s  Zach would come by (through the cat flap in my house) and eat the food my cats wouldn’t eat…I always knew when he was by, because the dish would be licked clean!!!  
I’m so sorry for your loss, and that she and I never got the chance to get to know each other better.  I know we would have been friends…

Joanna was such a kind , thoughtful loving person. She was so stoic through her challenges. Always positive and never wanted to bring up the difficult obstacles she was encountering.

Under that extremely warm outer shell she must've had the most courageous attitude a person can have, that Polish tough as nails spirit.

I’m so happy and grateful I was able to share some memories with her during our wedding 2 years ago.

She was one of those people that was bubbly and that everyone really appreciated, so humble but extremely smart and did so well professionally too.

It’s such a shame to see her leave so early.

I'm so sorry for this tragic loss. Joanna was such a sweet, kind person. I hired her in the 90s at Cleveland Clinic Florida Health Plan. I enjoyed keeping up with her during the years since. I'm very proud of her professional career accomplishments. She was a gift and very talented. Katrina and James, live your life to make your mom proud! She will always be near to look over you. ❤
