

John Baptist Crescitelli, 75, of Margate, FL, formerly of Staten Island, NY, passed away at home on February 7, 2021. Born on March 31, 1945 to Frank and Mary Crescitelli, he is survived by his wife of 32 years, Denise (née Fera); children from previous marriage to the late Alice Burke: sons, John Jr., James, and Matthew, and daughter, Allison Liotti (fiancé, Joseph Scuotto); and three step-sons, Robert, Richard, and Russell Graffeo; and grandchildren, Ryan, Daniel, Sarah, Matthew, James, and Alexis Crescitelli, Kaitlyn and Alyse Liotti, and Marcello Graffeo. As well as brother, Vincent Crescitelli; sister, RoseMarie Lohr.
John served as President of the Paradise Gardens Section 4 Maintenance Board for 3 years. He was also an active member of the Moose Lodge, Sunrise Italian American Social Club, and the National Board of Realtors. He was an avid golfer and played for many years.
He enlisted in the U.S. National Guard in 1963 and served as a member of the US Army Reserves for over 15 years. As a Staff Sergeant, he received the Army Achievement Medal for exemplary leadership and handling of military matters.
After retiring from the NY Transit after 22 years, John was employed by the city of Sunrise for 12 years. As the Transportation Supervisor, he developed the “Flipper Schedule” which is an easier system for riders to view the bus schedule for travel around the city. The system was popular and other cities became interested in it. John retired for the second time in 2007.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 5pm to 8pm at Kraeer Funeral Home, Coral Springs. A service to honor John will start at 6pm.
Please honor John’s love of his family and golden heart for caring for others by making a memorial contribution to the Miami Transplant Institute, the team that has and continues to care for his granddaughter, Kaitlyn.
