I only learned of Lou’s passing last year from his great friend Thomas O’herlihy. I was shocked to hear, even more so when it is someone so young and the deep, deep loss  his family would have felt. 

I only knew and occasionally met Lou between 1990 and ‘95 after which I moved back home to Scotland. I have an abiding memory of playing a stone age version of a computer football manager game round at his house along with Tom and Gunther. I was in the lead and pretty sure Lou had no chance of winning. Lou had a new washing machine delivered that afternoon and decided to fit it just as the game was nearing a conclusion. Lou, for some unknown reason, decided to turn off the electricity when installing the machine and with it the football game.  I suppose that was his way making sure he won....... because he didn’t have to pay out to the actual winner . 😀

Think about you every year around this time, as your birthday is nearly upon us.

Thought I would pluck the courage and view the pictures of your beautiful family I never knew.

Was thinking recently of everything we shared for the first time together; double dating, having our first beer; renting those apartments in London,  Being Godparent to your first children and working together for all those years.

Will never lose the friendship that we shared from a young age until we parted before you died, which will always follow me.  However, I will always have those memories of the years we had together and that infectious sense of humour that you had...

I am very sorry for your loss.  Time is a great healer and I do believe we will all meet again in another life.  Lou was kind and a great storyteller.  I am sure that each one of you will remember something great about this person.

My twin sister and I were very shocked to find out you died. I cannot tell you what a great lost you are to family and friends. I can't imagine how sad this is for your young girls and Sadna. I have missed barbecues at your house and though we haven't spoken in a while, I want to express how much of a sincere and honest person my sister and I have found you to be. Sadna, I grieve with you and I hope you find peace after your loss.

Lou, you were a couple of years older than me when I started my first job and as a youngster of 17 I was pretty green! We started and completed our training together and I have to say that I think I learned more from you in those few months, along with Tom O' and Martin C than I did in my whole time in school - it was a real education and I thank you for that.
I often think back to those years in London with great fondness and I was shocked and saddened to read about your passing. I'm not sure why we lost touch when we were such good mates and I'm sorry that we did but life takes over and I guess that's just the way of things. It's a poor excuse though and hope that you forgive me.
Although it has been sad, I have also really enjoyed looking through your photos on here and I take comfort from seeing your beautiful family and knowing that you must have been a truly happy man. My deepest heart-felt sympathies are with your family there in the US, in Ireland and here in the UK. I hope that they can take some comfort in knowing that you had such an impression on a young man so long ago and that you were truly regarded by everyone we knew as just the nicest, funniest and most genuine guy going. 
I'm a bit lost for words Lou, I could make a string of wishes but top would have to be that I wish we had kept in touch. That I could have sat down with you and talked about those great old days once more. I hope that wherever you are now, you are in peace. I'll see you again one day my friend.

RIP Lou, you were a year ahead of me in National School; Mary's in Brosna, Co. Kerry  and went to Secondary School St. Ita's College in Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick. We both were ambitious emigrant types with enquiring minds whereas we spent time in London, prior to making the USA our respective homes. My sincere condolences to your entire family.
