William J. Scully

He graduated from high school, married his high school sweetheart Emma Sue and raised 3 children together. He was an army veteran and then became an entrepreneur. Bill and Sue divorced later in life.

Bill was a self-made businessperson. He designed, manufactured and sold outdoor furniture and was owner of Scullini Outdoor Products. After the move to Florida, he missed the famous Chicago hot dog stands so he built one of the first Chicago-style restaurants in Ft. Lauderdale, Biggy’s Sandwich Emporium. He flew in the unavailable hot dogs, poppyseed buns, corned beef, pastrami, tamales, etc. Sue handmade the Italian Beef sandwiches and meatball subs. The famous Grandma Scully meatball recipe is still sought after outside the family but is a secret well kept. Bill loved Frank Sinatra, fine dining, the best cigars, wine & cheese, bowling, golf, and going to the horse track/casino.

Bill Scully is preceded in death by his parents Attilio & Philomena Scalzitti; and his 4 brothers and their wives Larry (& Mitzi) Scalzitti, Paul (& Jetta) Scalzitti, Art (& Barbara) Scully, and Sonny Scully.

He was the youngest of the 5 Italian American brothers raised by a strong widowed mother, Philomena, and is the last surviving sibling of his family. Italian family traditions (and recipe secrets) were essential and still hold true in the families of their children.

Bill Scully is survived by his his daughters Cindy Yannette (Chuck) and Susan Quirch (Carlos); Grandchildren: Danielle, Tony, Christina, Angelina and Joseph; Great- Grandchildren include Rocco, Mia, and Anthony.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held for father and son at St. Andrews Catholic Church, 9950 NW 29th St., Coral Springs, FL Friday, 1/31/25 at 10:00 am.

Internment: Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hillside, Il. (Date not yet decided).
