William Alan Walker

William Alan "Bill" Walker, 75, of Coral Springs, Florida, died on Thursday, July 26, 2012 of heart failure. Bill was born in Syracuse, New York on January 28, 1937. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Randie Walker of Coral Springs, Florida, his sons, Stephen Walker (Kim) of Sarasota, Florida and Matthew Walker of Coral Springs and his granddaughters, Ryan Walker and Grace Walker of Sarasota. Bill was predeceased by his parents, William "W.C." and Bertha Walker of Syracuse, New York and Pompano Beach, Florida.

Bill graduated from Cranwell Preparatory School in Lenox, Massachusetts, where he was awarded All Berkshire County Football Honors as a Center. He earned a B.S. in Economics from Holy Cross College in Worcester, Massachusetts, Class of 1959 and later earned a number of insurance industry credentials. Bill's greater that 50 year career in insurance included working with litigants as an expert witness, owning and serving as President of Atlantic Insurance Underwriters in Coral Springs, Florida, serving as Vice President of Reed Shaw Stenhouse and Fred S. James of Florida in Ft. Lauderdale and holding a variety of positions with Marsh & Mclennan, Inc. in New York City, Syracuse and Miami.

Bill received great pleasure in being a husband, father, son and friend. He spent much of his youth in Thousand Islands, New York and at the Onondaga Golf and Country Club. A long-time Miami Dolphins season ticket holder, Bill enthusiastically supported Miami sports teams. He was a committed long-time member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Coral Springs. Bill enjoyed being at home with his family and loyal dogs, Bridget and Bentley, getting together with friends at reunions or breakfast meetings and playing golf. He was an engaging story-teller, who was quick to laugh with others. He lived his life one day at a time, facing hardship with dignity sustained by his faith, family and friends. He remains deeply loved by those who knew him. He will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1401 Coral Ridge Drive, Coral Springs, Florida on August 11, 2012 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bill's name to the Cleveland Clinic Oncology Department, 2950 Cleveland Clinic Blvd., Weston, FL 33331
