I’m so so sorry to hear about uncle Derk. He was a light-hearted, kind and gentle soul.... very much like Oma. I too remember his pipe and his Labatts Blue beers. We always loved having him visit on Edwin Street. May he rest easy. All my strength, love and prayers to you aunt Eileen, David, Joleen and Leanne. Love you all so much, I wish I could be there. ❤️

My memory is when we all lived at Bellwood. Uncle Derk had his own chair a lazyboy brown leather recliner (if memory serves me right). It was the most comfiest chair in the house. We would sit in it (even though if we were caught we would be in deep...). Beside Uncle Derk's chair was his ashtray, this was a special ashtray as it would hold his pipe perfectly. I loved the smell of his pipe. I can still see Uncle Derk in his chair reclined back with his leather slippers on while smoking his pipe after a long day. I will miss you lots Uncle Derk, I hope Dad and you are having a great conversation!!!
