My Aunt Mel was always so glad to see us come for a visit, which my Mom and Dad did as often as time away from a farm can give you. I would always love to dress up when we were going there. My Aunt Mel would grab my face and kiss and hug me, and always tell my complexion was so nice and pink. She always made me feel so special. When I got my own car, my 1954 Chevy, I would love to take a trip by myself to visit and she always had a bed available for me. She had to go to work early, and would always put out things available for breakfast for me. Her house had a big kitchen, which was the gathering room, We had many fun times in her kitchen, dances, singing old songs, and laughing so much. Times I will always remember, her home was welcome to all on Belmont Street. This picture is Aunt Mel, with Aunt Rita and my Mom, Cecile

Stephen and I are heartbroken for Imelda's family. We did not know her personally but we are friends of the family and she is Great Grandma to our darling grand-daughterJanelle. We know that she will be well received in Heaven by her family there.

So many memories to chose from, but here's one that I've shared many many times as it would always put a smile on my face and would give others a good chuckle. I was very young, and it was last minute that my parents asked her if I could spend the night. Of course, she said yes. Just before bed she asked if I wanted a snack. Naturally, I asked for chips. She only had plain chips. She seemed disappointed that it was all she had. She brought me a bowl of plain chips and another small bowl. I looked at her an said "what's this memere? She said "it's mayonnaise", "to dip your chips in". We looked at each other and laughed. She took a chip, dipped it in the mayo and was like "mmmm"... lol. I wasn't particularly fond of the combo but ate them so she didn't feel bad. From that point on, every time I slept over she was like " I have your favorite, chips and mayo...lol. I didn't have the heart to tell her.
She was so comical. I will never forget this and all the other wonderful memories she and I shared ❤❤❤❤
