It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of Michel Wallace Boyer on April 28, 2026, after a sudden yet courageous battle with cancer. He was 57. Mike was surrounded by family as he peacefully passed into the eternal light of heaven.
Mike is survived by his parents Roger and Edna Boyer; his daughters Katrina Deshenes and Cassandra Marsolais (James Haynes); his sister Joanne Lefebvre (Robert); his cherished grandsons Henry and George, his nieces Crystal Martin (Nicholas Gauthier) and Robyn Lefebvre (Derrick Viau); his grand-nephews Winter, Lewis and Lucas and his grand-niece Lily. He is predeceased by Crystal's partner Todd Martin.
Unka, as many of us in the family liked to call him, was a gentle and kind-hearted gem of a soul, blessed with the most jovial nature. He was just the sweetest guy ever, always polite, thankful, considerate and respectful of others. He was pure goodness. His biggest smiles and loudest laughs came in the company of family. Mike loved a good joke, a bad pun, his sister's black forrest cake, the Chinese food buffets at Jack Lee's and Mandarin, a double-double while watching ducks, geese and blue heron feeding by the waterfront, a great rock concert, attending an NHL game and seeing his Montreal Canadiens win. More than anything, Mike cherished his loving daughers and grandsons, and was proudest of their accomplishments. He will be extremely missed by everyone who loved him and knew him well.
Our family would like to thank the many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces, and friends of Mike who visited him in his final weeks and days. There were so many of you who brought him light. Your gestures of kindness, your familiar faces, your smiles and laughs, your retelling of old stories, and your presence comforted him and lifted him to no end. It showed him just how well he was truly loved by everyone. He lived a little longer - and had added good days - because of you, and he most certainly felt your love. Thank you!
Our family would also like to thank Dr. Paul Wheatly-Price and his staff at the Ottawa General Hospital, and Dr. Yu, Dr. Menen and Dr. Leigh in Cornwall, for their compassionate and empathetic care. The amazing staff of nurses and personal support workers at the Cornwall Carefor Hospice went above and beyond for Mike 24-7. Together, you made all of his last days better ones and precious ones, and our family thanks you for taking such special care of Mike. He often mentioned, multiple times daily, how well he felt in your great care.
Arrangements are entrusted to Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes, East Branch, 614 First St. E, (613-933-2811). As per Mike's wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no service. A private family celebration of his life will take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, we encourage that donations in Mike's name be made to the Cornwall Carefor Hospice.
