Ronald Whitney Merkley

Ron is predeceased by his parents Whitney and Idella (née Lagroix) Merkley.

For more than 30 years, Ronald served as an employee of the City of Cornwall, bringing steady dedication and a strong work ethic to the role. His days were marked by reliability and pride in doing things well, and those who worked alongside him knew they could count on his consistent effort and considerate nature.

Beyond work, Ronald found enjoyment in cars and the gym—interests that reflected both his practical spirit and his commitment to staying active. He also gave his time as a volunteer at the Agape Food Bank, offering help in a way that was quiet, generous, and grounded in genuine care for others.

As per Ron’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held at a later date. Arrangements under the care and direction of Lahaie and Sullivan East Branch, 614 First Street East, Cornwall, ON (613-933-2841).

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
