Brian grew up on Sea Island in Richmond, and always remembered fondly his years spent in the Cora Brown neighbourhood.
After high school, Brian attended UBC and obtained a Bachelor of Science. He also took a gap year to travel the world, with stops including Hawaii, American Samoa, and an extended time traveling in Australia, where he worked in a silver mine to save up for his fare home.
After many years working as security for YVR, in 1997 Brian met Jan through a correspondence dating service. They married, he moved to the Comox Valley, and they had their daughter Taeryn in 1999.
Brian enjoyed such activities as playing soccer, playing guitar at his church in Cumberland, reading about science fiction and world events, and taking care of his dogs (which he bred for over twenty years). Brian had a brilliant and inquisitive mind and was always seeking to learn more about the world. He had a unique way of solving problems and was an inventive thinker. Brian was kind-hearted to others and immensely proud of his daughter.
Brian spent his final years happily in a long-term care home, where he passed peacefully on June 6, 2026.
Brian will be missed by his family: daughter Taeryn, brother Paul and brother-in-law Norm, as well as his ex-wife Jan.
