Danny Malcolm Meldrum

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved dad, grandpa, brother, and friend, Danny Malcolm Meldrum, who passed away on August 11, 2026, at the age of 69.

Danny was born on April 21, 1957, in New Westminster, British Columbia, to Patrick and Audrey Meldrum.

Danny was a man who loved deeply. He had a gift for connecting with people and could make just about anyone feel like a friend. He loved people, loved to talk, and always had a story to tell.

One of Danny’s favourite jobs was working as a doorman at Gullivers. He loved the people he met, the friendships he made, and the countless stories that came from those years. He made a lasting impression on so many people.

Proud of his Irish and Scottish roots, Danny would always say:

“I’ll either have a drink and hit you, or hit you and have a drink, but either way, I’m having a drink.”

Danny loved music and especially enjoyed singing karaoke. He could often be found telling stories and enjoying the company of the people around him.

But above all else, Danny loved his wife, Tammy, his soulmate. They were married on December 18, 1982, and shared a love that remained at the heart of his life. Losing Tammy changed Danny deeply, and he was never quite the same after she passed. We find comfort in believing that they are together again, where they belong.

Danny was a very proud grandpa to Kendra and Brodie, and a loving father to Alecia and Brandon. He will also be lovingly remembered by his brother Sean (Jackie); his sister Heather (Donny); and his sister Patsy (Earl), along with lots of nieces, nephews and extended family, and the many friends whose lives he touched.

Danny’s battle with cancer was short, but throughout it all, he remained incredibly positive and loving. Even in the hardest moments, he continued to show the strength, warmth, and kindness that defined him.

Dad had the best bear hugs. The kind of hugs that made you feel safe, loved, and like everything was going to be okay. I will miss those hugs more than I could ever put into words. I would give anything for one more.

Danny leaves behind a lifetime of laughter, stories, friendships, music, and memories. He will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Dad, we hope you’ve found Mom. We hope she was waiting for you with open arms, and that you’re finally together again.

There will be no formal service at this time. In honour of Danny, we invite everyone who knew and loved him to share a favourite photograph, memory, or story. We would love to celebrate his life through the memories of the people whose lives he touched.
