

She is survived by husband Captain John Lahey, daughter Janet (Ross) Powell, son James Lahey and daughter Dr. Julie Lahey (Sal Chirico). She will be deeply missed by her six Grandchildren: Sarah, Drew, and Laura Powell, Angela, Giano, and Sophia Chirico.
Judith was born in Regina, Saskatchewan in 1938 to parents George Garside and Emily Hocking. She attended the Galt School of Nursing in Lethbridge, Alberta and became a Registered Nurse, specializing in pediatrics. She lived in several Airforce towns, including Bagotville QC, North Bay ON, Moose Jaw SK, Lahr & Baden-Baden in Germany.
She was active with St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Comox and enjoyed singing in the church choir. Always happy to help out, Judith’s volunteer activities included Girl Guides in Ontario and several years as a “Kitchen Lady” at St. Peter’s summer bible camps. Judith also loved knitting and sewing, leaving family members and friends with countless afghans, slippers and other gifts to remember her by.
Judith enjoyed travelling with John after retirement, with cruises to Australia/NZ, Hawaii and Alaska. Judith had close friends across the country and England, keeping in touch with regular phone calls.
She loved animals and adopted several dogs through her lifetime, also volunteering with her dog Jake to visit patients at the Comox hospital.
Heartfelt thanks to the caring teams that cared for Judith at the North Island hospital in Comox.
Cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to gather in her honour at St. Peter’s Anglican Church - 2pm on Sunday, September 6th. Reception to follow.
