Born in Victoria BC, Linda was the second daughter of Joan and Phil Hodgkin. Phil was a Canadian Naval Officer, so the family moved frequently. From Victoria to Halifax, Croydon (England), back to Halifax, then Silver Spring (Maryland). A brother and two more sisters were added along the way until the much larger family of 7 traveled back to BC.
After high school graduation, Linda attended BCIT and became a Lab Technologist. Continuing the trend of moving, she worked in Victoria, then had a short stay in Toronto, and finally returned to BC, settling in Vernon and then ultimately Courtenay.
Linda loved (in no particular order) travel, biking, camping, hiking, and skiing. She worked and lived in Japan for a year teaching high school students English and was also fortunate to travel to India. Linda enjoyed cruises and also travelled extensively all over Canada. Her favourite Canadian destinations were Newfoundland and PEI.
Living in Courtenay, Linda was surrounded by what she loved most, the ocean. Goose Spit, and Air Force Beach were among the places she enjoyed most. These loves were shared passionately with family and friends.
Linda was involved with the Girl Guides of Canada for most of her adult life, sharing her love of the outdoors and impacting the lives of countless young guiders over the years.
Linda is survived by her forever friend Ruth, her brother Russell, sisters Wendy and Robin and her miniature schnauzer Bentley.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Philip Hodgkin, mother Joan Audrey Hodgkin and sister Nancy Anne Stevenson.
A Celebration of Linda's Life will take place on Sunday October 4th at Rocky Point Park, Port Moody from 11:30am to 2:00pm.
