friends as Del, she lived a full life rooted in family, friendship, community, and the many places she called home, from Alberta to the Comox Valley. Del is survived by her son Don (Nicole) Booth, and her grandchildren Laurie (David) Norman and Chris (Michelle) Booth. She is predeceased by her son Grant Booth and her
husband Norm Booth.
Del was born December 21, 1937 in Alberta. The Bullock family moved to Edmonton, Alberta in the early 40s, where Del graduated from Victoria Composite High School in 1955. She met and married Norman John Booth in 1957, settling into a home in Mayfield where she had two sons, Don (December 1958) and Grant (January 1960). Del worked as a secretary for Edmonton School Board and at Shapanskis Appraisals.
The Booth family moved to the Comox Valley in the spring of 1988 and bought King Coho Resort, where they made many lifelong friends. The resort was sold in January 1994, after which Del and Norm were able to retire. They spent summers in Comox and the surrounding area, often out camping, and winters enjoying the sun in Yuma, Arizona.
During their retirement years, Norm spent time in the shop working on old cars, which led them to join two car clubs and befriend likeminded car collectors in the Campbell River and Comox
Valley areas. They enjoyed years of friendships and club activities, including fall road trips, barbecues, and car shows like Nautical Days.
After Norm’s passing, Del carried on, keeping in touch with the clubs and activities she enjoyed. She also enjoyed bingo, jigsaw puzzles, exercise classes, cribbage, and being out and about whenever she could.
After a stroke, Del was more limited to home life with Gilligan, but she still enjoyed getting out with the help of family and friends. She also valued the companionship and support of her wonderful neighbours of many years, Dennis and Nancy, and Dallas and Sandy.
Through each chapter of her life, Del’s days were shaped by the people around her, and her family is grateful for the love, care, and friendship that surrounded her.
The family would like to thank and send love to VIHA home support staff, Comox Valley Hospital staff, and Glacier View Lodge staff (and residents) for the fantastic care they showed to Del and the amazing support provided to her family.
