Valerie was the daughter of Gene and Ines Pearson of Victoria and was predeceased by her parents and her beloved partner, Michael
Yurchuk as well as her sister Velva Van Ek. She is survived by her brother Bob Pearson (Denise) of Victoria and seven nieces and nephews. Val graduated with a degree in Education from the University of Victoria and taught school in Okanagan Falls and Williams Lake and most recently for over 30 years in the Courtenay/Comox area.
A remembrance ceremony will take place at Piercy’s Mt. Washington Funeral Home, 440 England Avenue, Courtenay, B.C. on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. with a reception to follow.
