Bill was born on January 31, 1938 in Sydney, NS. He lived a large part of his life there, and in Edmonton, AB. He passed away on July 18, in Courtenay, BC, at the age of 88.
He is predeceased by his parents William and Euphemia MacKinnon, his wife Tena, and his siblings John Bernard, John Roger, Patrick, and Mary. Bill will be lovingly remembered by his brothers, Charles, Daniel, and Allan, his sons and daughters-in-law Ken and Monique, Allan and Maria, Bill and Geneviève, and Gerrard, his grandchildren Cyrus, Avery, Lia, Allana, and Kenny, and his in-laws, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Bill served three years in the Royal Canadian Air Force. After several other jobs, he spent 28 years working for CN Rail.
From a very young age, Bill quietly supported many members of his immediate and extended family. He was always there for his family and neighbours when they needed it most. Since retiring, he spent much of his time caring for his beloved wife Tena.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to Dr. Bakshi and the staff at North Island Hospital and Aitken Community Hospice, for helping him through his final days with dignity.
A small memorial with his immediate family was held in the home that he loved.
Bill was a generous donor to numerous charities, so please feel free to donate to a hospice or a charity of your choice.
