Anna Mae O'Donnell Slater

Anna Mae Slater, age 92, passed away February 10, 2010 at the VNA Hospice in Valparaiso, IN. She was born November 12, 1917 in Whiting, IN to William & Anna (Jacobi) O’Donnell. She graduated from Hammond Tech Vocational School, Class of 1934. She lived in California for 50 years and loved to travel. While in California she worked for General Atomics (Defense Contractor). She was married and preceded in death by husbands Clayton L. Hayes & William D. Slater.

Anna is survived by one son: William (Lynn) Slater of Colorado. A daughter in law: Geri Slater of CA. Her caregivers and special nieces: Kae Anne (Bob) Howell of Chesterton, IN and Debbie (Jeff) Kochis of Hammond, IN. Niece Jean Ince of Demotte,IN. Two nephews: Richard (Doris) Crowel of Florida and Don Wonnacott of Demotte, IN. Three grandchildren: Kendra (Bryan) Gregory of CO. Danielle Slater of CO. and April Henderson of CA. Three Great-grandchildren: Brianna & Hadley Gregory of CO. and Cooper Henderson of CA. Also survived by several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter: Sandra Lee Hayes and her son Thomas Slater. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Margaret M. Crowel, Francis O’Donnell, Florence Thornton, Otto O’Donnell and Nellie Wonnacott.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, February 15, 2010 at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Schererville, IN with Father James Wozniak officiating. The visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the 12:00 Noon service time on Monday. Interment will be in the Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN.
