Bertie E. Black

Bertie was born March 25, 1933 in Malvern, Arkansas to the late William and Coney (Nutt) Hohrine. Also preceding her in death are her brothers, Louie, Odis, and Franklin Hohrine.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of thirty seven years, James Paul Black; her children, James “Mark” (Rochelle) Halama, Danny Halama, Ken Black, Joe Black, and Kim Wilson; 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; and sisters, Josephine Thornton and Una Jean Worrell.

Bertie worked at RR Donnelly Publishing in Chicago for 17 years before she worked as a Postal Worker in Matteson and Crown Point, then retiring after 10 years of service. She was a kind and loving caretaker for many generations of her family. Bertie was always known as “Ma” to her many circles of family and friendships. She will be missed by all who loved her.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 S. Cline Ave.; Schererville, IN 46375) from 2-8 pm. Funeral services will be Monday, November 9, 2015 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Joliet, Illinois.
