Billy C. Reed, age 92, of Highland, IN passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, October 31, 2011 at his home in Highland, IN. He was born on October 9, 1919 in Du Qoin, IL. Billy was the son of late John and Alice Reed. He operated his own business, Bressler's 33 Flavors with his late wife Betty. Surviving to mourn Billy passing are devoted children: Linda (Glenn) Hegyi of Dyer, IN, Brenda (Frank) Kurgan Crown Point, IN, Cynthia Kieft of Arizona; seven beloved grandchildren: Tina Sincan, Eric Sias, Larry Birkenfeld, Steven Hurst, Carson, Kelly, Alexis Kieft. Waiting to greet Billy in Heaven is his loving wife of 50 years, Betty, and his parents John and Alice Reed. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 12 Noon at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave (1/2 mile south of US 30) Schererville, IN. At rest Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. Friends may visit with the family Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon (time of services) at the funeral home. Bill spent the majority of his work life as a top notch salesman, his accolades were numerous. He retired in 1984 to Leitchfield Kentucky, where he donated many hours teaching adults to read and write, many who went on to get their GED. His passion of oil painting led him to win first place awards. His job as a country store salesman kept him busy until they returned to Indiana in 1990. He celebrated his 92nd birthday surrounded by many family and friends.
