David Scott Strayer

David was the loving husband and best friend for 41 years to Christine Strayer; devoted son to the late Donald and the late Norma Jean Strayer; beloved brother to Debra Strayer, Sharon (George) Murrow and the late Robert Allen Strayer; uncle to many; amazing brother-in-law to Bill (Deb) Schmid, Kathy (Tony) Proccacio, Tom (Bonnie) Mickles, Susan (Fernando Carrasco) Mickles; great friend to Tommy Mooney; and father to fur babies, Boston and Gracie.

David honorably served in the United States Marine Corp. He received two Associates degrees from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Ball State University. David retired as an operating engineer for Local #150 after 40 years of faithful service. He volunteered his time to mentor youths and taught GED classes, and helped many to prepare for college and future careers, including his step-son, Jesse Hunt, and his nephew, Michael Dominguez, both of whom he thought of as sons. David especially loved to spend time with his wife, Christine. They would enjoy each other while camping at their place on the Tippecanoe River and shopping. People would not see one without the other.

Visitation for David will be held Tuesday, October 10, 2023 from 3:00 - 8:00 PM with a Memorial Service at 5:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307.
