Donald G. Pelino

Dr. Donald Guy Pelino, D.O. 1929 – 2022 Dyer, IN – Dr. Donald Guy Pelino, D.O., 92, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 with his family at his side. Don is survived by his wife of 65 1/2 years, Nita (Jordan); daughter, Melissa (Richard) Borgetti of Dyer, IN; and son, Donald (Vikki) of Mesquite, TX; grandchildren, Jonathan (Amanda) Borgetti, Jason Borgetti, Kevin, Jonvieve and Dante Pelino; sister-in-law Karen Pelino; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, Gaetano and Josephine Pelino; and brothers, Carl (Patricia) and John. Don practiced pediatric and family medicine for over 60 years, many along with his partner, Dr. William Garvin (deceased) in the south suburbs and northwest Indiana, recently retiring from the Marcotte Medical Group in Dyer. Don was a proud graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he completed his residency and later became a professor, teaching there for many years. Dr. Don treated thousands of patients over his distinguished career, trained and mentored many doctors, and touched the lives of countless people. Being a healer was Doc’s great passion. His great loves in life were good food, great wine and especially his family and friends. As per his wishes, there will be no visitation or services. Special thanks to his caregivers, Emma, Andrzej and the nurses at Providence Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital would be appreciated.
