Dear Flowers Family,
I was privileged to be coached by Coach Flowers my sophomore year 67 at TFS . I remember he told me that basketball is just a game but he helped bring the best out of my game.

The full court wind sprints during practice were very hard to do but that’s how Coach Flowers helped us to stay in basketball shape to be able to compete against our conference foes.

His coaching skills and discipline helped me enjoy the game. May he always Rest In Peace.

Gene was my high school coach first then a great lifetime friend later!  A tremendous loss to all that knew him!  May this special life rest in peace and pray for his wonderful soulmate, Nanette!

Jill, I was so sorry to hear about your dad.  It is difficult to lose our parents.  I recently had surgery and am unable to drive.  If I could. I would have loved to surprise you as you did me with your kind note so many years ago.  You and your family are in my thoughts.  God bless all of you.  Margaret (Downs) Mirich

Dear Flowers Family, my name is Kendall Kremer and I attended TFS high school where Mr Flowers worked. I was also fortunate to go through my four years at TFS with his daughter Jill who was beautiful, thoughtful and kind. Mr Flowers was a good coach but also a good disciplinarian. I received my first swat (that was a common practice back then) from Coach and it was a good one. I pretended it didn't hurt but wanted to scream. He never bragged about his basketball skills but was a great player.  I remember having a talk with him about me being recruited by Ball State to play football and he knew a great deal about the school which helped make my decision. I don't remember his first name being Lindsey and would have had a laugh with him about that. I called him Mr Flowers until I graduated from college and then he suggested I call him Gene. He was a good family man and I suspect he is sitting high in the clouds with no worries and a big smile on his face! God bless, Kendall

Our deepest sympathies on the passing of a truly wonderful man. We will be out of town on Thursday and won't be able to pass along our condolences at that time. May you be blessed with God's presence during this trying time.
