

GENEVIEVE CRIDER MISSION, TX FORMERLY OF HIGHLAND, IN Genevieve “Jean” Crider, age 83, formerly of Highland, IN passed away peacefully at her home on December 28, 2013 in Mission, TX with her loving husband of 64 years at her side. Jean was born July 13, 1930 in Winneconne, WI to the late French and Nell (Johnson) Gehrke. She married Robert Crider who survives in Mission, TX. Survivors also include her children: Nelda (Webster) Lee of Shelby, IN, Sandra (Michael) Kolodziej of Hammond, IN, and William (Cheryl) Crider of Crown Point, IN; grandchildren: Nathan, Robert, Cathryn, Dawn, Paul, Sarah, Shane, Cori, Danielle, Nick, and Sidney; great grandchildren: Chet, Nathan, Seth, Paige, Mila, Crystal, Kelly, John, Peighton, and Eion; her sister, Joyce Langel; and brother, James Gehrke. She was preceded in death by her sisters: Jane Skaggs and June Stout. Mrs. Crider was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a 1949 graduate of Griffith High School. Jean and her husband loved dancing, and were members of the Buttons & Bows square dancers and members of the Club 400 of Chicago. She was also a loyal member of the Eastern Star of Griffith were she received her 50 year pin. Jean loved painting and taking other art classes. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Steve Jones officiating at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave., Schererville, IN 46375. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Burial will be private at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
