George Handley

Handley, George Age 67, of Crown Point, IN passed away Monday, November 18, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Doris; three daughters, Theresa (Paul) Clark, Sherry (Steve) Shelton and Janis (Rafael) Nunez; seven grandchildren, Jacob Cormican, Melissa and Matthew Clark, Steven Shelton Jr., Brandon Shelton, Nicholas and Marcus Nunez; one great-granddaughter, Riley Tosseng; four brothers, Art (Betty) Handley, John, Ron and Tom Handley; one sister, Martha Handley; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Handley was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mary Handley; and sister, Joan Handley. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave., Schererville, IN, with Pastor John Starr officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville. Friends are invited to meet with the family Sunday, November 24, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Mr. Handley retired from the Bricklayers Union Local #4 of Merrillville, IN. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of American Legion Post #261 of Cedar Lake, IN who will hold services at 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. George was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling, hiking and the outdoors.
