

Jean will be remembered for her nurturing, kindness and strength, her courage, feisty disposition, and unconditional love. Jean lived a full life and spent time looking after her family and loved ones. She cared for her ailing mother and her great aunt. She loved cooking and being with family. Jean was a lifetime member of the Salvation Army Church and she played baritone in the church band. She was a 1952 Graduate of Hammond High School and a dedicated bus driver for Kickert Bus Lines for 27 years.
Jean’s legacy will continue through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Linda (Dean) Presco, Lester Lee Sloan Jr., James Sloan, Sharon Galvan and Kevin (Dawn) Sloan; grandchildren, Creg Presco, Larry (Tonya) Presco, Darla Sloan, Lester “Buddy” Lee (Michelle) Sloan III, Lauren (Ahmed) Toliver, Jack Sloan, James “Dinky” Sloan, Cora (Donald) Ritter, Jessicha Sloan, Roger Tysen, Sherrie Tysen, Greg Galvan, Carissa (Adam) Goodman, Brittney Galvan, Kevin Sloan, and Kyle Sloan; great-grandchildren, Larry Presco Jr., John Presco, Tyler Toliver, Emily Sloan, Donald Ritter IV, Ryan Ritter, Logan Carter, Baylee Tysen, William Bridgeman Jr., Kylee Galvan, Brantley Goodman and Mason Goodman and her siblings, Ruth Kekelik, Mary Smith, and Muriel Ryzewski.
Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Lester Lee Sloan Sr., her parents, Georgia & Alfred Greatrix and brother, Clifford Greatrix.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Chapel (8178 Cline Avenue Crown Point, IN) with Major Joe Tamayo officiating.
Interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Crown Point, IN.
Friends are invited to meet with the family on Monday, February 5, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
