Joyce was born in Chicago and spent over 40 years in the Roseland neighborhood. As one of twelve siblings, she grew up surrounded by family, a value that remained central to her entire life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 39 years, Joseph J. Panozzo; her parents, Connie and Everett Schilling; siblings, Jackie, Judy, JoAnn, Jerry, Jill, and Jeff (Butch); son-in-law, Robert K. Spangler, II; and her grandson, Michael A. Panozzo.
Joyce is survived by her five loving children, Joseph (Carolyn), Thomas (Terry), Linda (Andrew Stebel), Jane Spangler, and James (Renee). She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother to many, and is also survived by her siblings, Jeanne, Janice, June, Janet, and Jim; as well as many nieces and nephews who adored her.
Joyce dedicated her life to raising her children and creating a joyful, loving home. She had a deep love for music and dancing, and she especially cherished celebrating the holidays, most of all Christmas, when her baking brought the whole family together. After many dedicated years, Joyce retired as a proud employee of Kmart, where she formed lasting friendships and took great pride in her work. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures; tending to her flowers, working in her yard, and cheering on her beloved Chicago Cubs. Her warmth, joy, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Joyce will be remembered for her warm spirit, unwavering love for her family, and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM. Joyce will be laid to rest next to her husband at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
