OBITUARY

Kathleen Marie Borem

IN THE CARE OF

Chapel Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens

Kathleen Marie Borem, age 63, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024. She is survived by her loving and devoted father, Donald Borem, and was preceded in death by her loving and caring mother, Therese Borem.

Kathleen is the cherished sister to David (Cheryl) Borem of Hammond, Darlene Gautreaux of Griffith, Timothy (Linda) Borem of Orland Park, and Susan Anderson of Schererville; proud aunt to Jill Gautreaux, Jeff Gautreaux, Ryan (Gabrielle) Meyer, Greg Meyer, Tim Borem, Jaclyn (Dominic) Mangerson, Jessica Anderson, Brendan Anderson and Nick Anderson; great-aunt to Kaia, Michael, Joshua, Maverick and Archer.

Kathy lived with developmental disabilities throughout her entire life, but her love, joy and humor brought light to everyone who knew her. She grew up on Maryland Avenue in Hessville, IN and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help church. Kathy had quite an impact on church parishioners and neighbors, often singing with them and swimming with them in the family backyard swimming pool.

Kathy also had a lifelong love for doing puzzles and coloring. She would always ask for her favorite foods of popcorn, strawberry shortcake, and McDonalds. What brought her the most joy was listening and singing along to music. Some of her favorite songs that she memorized and sang every word with great delight were Jesus Loves Me, Amazing Grace, Hey Jude, Leaving on a Jet Plane and anything sung by Englebert Humperdinck.

Kathy did not always have an easy time in life, but no matter how hard things were for her she would always come up with a remark or phrase that would make us all laugh and brighten our time with her.

Kathy will be missed by all who knew her, but we are comforted knowing she is in the caring arms of God and reunited with her mother and loved ones in Heaven.

The Borem Family would like to recognize and express our heartfelt gratitude to Jannie Williams, Kathy’s longtime loving and devoted caregiver who spent many years with Kathy at her group home – may God Bless you always, Jannie.
