Once Laurie was discharged, he was employed at Chicago Osteopathic Hospital until 1964. He was next employed at Holy Cross Hospital in Chicago, where he worked for 37 years as manager of the Nuclear Medical Department, retiring in 2001.
Laurie was a Member of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) – Nuclear Medicine, the Society of Nuclear Medicine Technologists (SNMT). During his tenure at Holy Cross Hospital, Laurie faithfully served as the Chairman of the Holy Cross Hospital Credit Union from 1983 – 2000.
During Laurie’s life, he participated in many different pastimes. He enjoyed bowling and square dancing. His home with Ava includes many pieces of Western themed artwork, especially those that included horses. He was a woodworking hobbyist, making small toys, furniture and decorative items. Laurie loved all things Western: horseback riding, clothes, artwork and especially Country & Western music.
But all who knew Laurie understood that his true passion, almost as much as his family, was chocolate.
