Mary Ellen Barnett, 78, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2011. She was born February 19, 1933 in Hartford, KY to John and Thelma (nee Smith) Travis. She married Charles Barnett and he preceded her in death in 2001. Mary was a devoted Christian woman who honored her roles as wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by sons: Dennis Barnett and Michael (Tara) Barnett; a daughter, Sheila Rose; nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Also survived by sister-in-law, Nadine (late Hurston) Travis. Preceded by sisters: Margie Wymer and Faye Campbell. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 10, 2011 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Schererville, IN. Eastern Star service at 7:30 PM Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 11, 2011 at the funeral home with Pastor Scott Hobbs officiating. Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville.
