Raul G. Ruiz

He was born on August 17, 1933, in Hamford, CA, and throughout life remained a man deeply rooted in family, tradition, and joy. Raul was preceded in death by his parents, Lucia and Juan; his beloved brothers, John and Raymond; and sister, Josephine.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Soledad Ruiz; his sons, Raul Ruiz and John Ruiz; and daughter, Linda Zamora (Heriberto). He was a proud grandfather of Vanessa and Alejandro Zamora.

Raul served in the Navy for six years during the Korean War. He was a Third Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo, and served as a Vice President Committee Man for the City of Hammond for ten years. He loved his many dogs and tending to his yard. He took great pride in his grandchildren, whom he spoiled rotten. He loved his sweets and was always ready for seconds.

He will be deeply missed, but our memories of him will always comfort us and keep him in our hearts.

Visitation to honor Raul will be held on March 11, 2026, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. A Funeral Service will follow on March 12, 2026, at 10:00 am. He will be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
