

Ricardo was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and cherished brother whose warmth and love for family touched everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Torres; his daughter, Brittney Torres; his son, Ricardo Torres II (fiancée, Jasmin); his treasured grandchildren, Kyley Torres and Lawrence Coty; his siblings, Jesse Torres and Christina Nixon; as well as many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Julia Torres; and his sister, Rita Torres.
Ricardo had a deep passion for music and was proud to play guitar in the band LAWLESS. He enjoyed cooking for his family, spending time with those he loved most, and trying his luck with lottery tickets. Ricardo worked for newspaper agencies for almost 42 years, including almost 10 years with the Hammond Times, ultimately starting his own business Torres News Agency. Above all, he cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Ricardo will be remembered for his generous heart, his love of music, his sense of humor, and the joy he brought to family gatherings. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. Ricardo will be laid to rest on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN.
