Robert Rodell Cummings

Robert Rodell Cummings, age 80, of Portage, IN passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side. He was born January 16, 1934 in Tuscola, IL to the late Patrick and Sibyl (Mize) Cummings, also his brother Stanley preceded in death. Survivors are his wife, Grace (Stranz) Cummings; children: Debbie (Tripp) Waldo, Michael (Tammy) Cummings, Candy (Joe) Gacsy, Scott (Diane) Cummings; 12 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Also his siblings: Harold (Maureen) Cummings, Pat Haney, Delores (Robert) Montgomery; sister in law Sandy Cummings; many nieces and nephews, and his faithful companion "Snoopy". Rodell was part of the first graduating class of Calumet High School in 1952. He then faithfully served the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After returning from the service he was employed by Inland Steel and retiring after 31 years of service as a foreman. He was a car enthusiast, repairing, fixing and perfecting cars of his and his friends and family. He especially enjoyed his hobby with his friends. Funeral services will be Monday, September 29, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 S. Cline Ave Schererville, IN 46375) with Pastor Bob Parnell officiating.
