

Robert “Bob” DeLisle of portage, passed peacefully in his home Saturday, February 18. He is formerly of Hammond was Born August 26, 1937 in East Chicago to Catherine Lengyel and John Nestor. He graduated from Hammond High School in 1955. He then joined the United States Air Force in 1958. Studied Russian at Syracuse University and The United State Airforce Institute of Technology. He was a Russian translator for the United States Air Force from 1958-1963. He married his beloved wife Gloria (Snyder) DeLisle on June 20, 1970. He earned a B.S. in Industrial Education from Purdue University.
He retired from Lane Tech High School in Chicago as a welding teacher who was loved by everyone. He is preceded in death by his parents Catherine (Harry) DeLisle, John (Millie) Nestor, his in-laws Ethel and Raymond Snyder. His loving wife Gloria DeLisle, step-brother David Oliver and brother-in-law Frank Lile. He is survived by his son Dean (Holly) DeLisle and Daughter Desiree DeLisle Grandchildren: Emma, Zachary and Jacob Farkas, Jackson and Sydney DeLisle. Brothers: Tom (Sherry) Nestor, Dan (Gail) Nestor, Rick (Cathie) Nestor. Sisters: Karen (late Frank) Lile, Jan Craft, Jeanie (Brian) Granzo. Many nieces, nephews, friends and wonderful neighbors who always looked out for Bob. Arrangements for Bob DeLisle: there will be a service Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, from 3pm to 8pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Schererville IN 46375, 219-365-9554.
