Samuel Flener, 84, of Central City, died Monday, March 20, 2017, at 12:07AM at his home. Mr. Flener was born April 30, 1932, in Hartford. He was a crane operator at LTG Steel, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Central City. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving on one of the most highly decorated battle ships, the USS New Jersey BB-62, during the Korean War.
He is survived by his son, James Flener; grand, Puppet and Timber; nieces Donna Fadian, Sharon Willison, and Joann Ross; and nephews Bill Stone and Larry Stone.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 23, 2017, at 2:00PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Bro. Chase Thompson officiating. Visitation will be Thursday after 10:30AM at the funeral home. Masonic services will be held on Thursday at 11:00AM at the funeral home. There will also be funeral services on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at 12:00 noon at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home in Schererville, IN. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00AM - 12:00PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Burial in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville, IN.
