

Sharon Christine Cook, age 78, passed away on April 2, 2026. She had been a longtime resident of Schererville, where she lived for 50 years. Sharon was born in Virginia to her parents, John McDonough and Esther Jenkins.
Sharon was the beloved wife of Robert Cook, with whom she shared an extraordinary 58 years of marriage. Their love story began when they met at just 14 years old, and it grew into a lifetime of devotion, companionship, and unwavering support.
She was a devoted mother to Tammy Michael and Robin (Wes) VanNoort. A loving grandma to Gray Michael, Anna Michael, Alissa (Bradley) Brenning, and Andrew VanNoort. Sharon was a proud and loving grandma, whose greatest joy in life was her grandchildren. She never missed a milestone or accomplishment and cherished every moment spent with them.
Sharon is survived by her brothers, Greg McDonough and Dane Jenkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, John McDonough and Esther Jenkins; her sisters, Pat, Kathy, and Margaret; and her brothers, Kevin and Johnny.
Above all, Sharon will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a wonderful mother who loved her family unconditionally and set an unmatched example of love, kindness, and empathy. Her presence brought warmth and comfort to those around her, and her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 11, 2026. Family and friends are invited to attend, with a celebration of life following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Sharon’s memory.
Sharon will be deeply missed and forever loved.
