Victor Ignat Silaghi

Victor was a 1949 graduate from Washington High School in East Chicago, IN. Shortly after high school, Victor served in the United States Army as an Army Corporal in Korea from 1951-1953. He met Evelyn Marie Grishka and they were married on May 13, 1952, starting a beautiful life together. Victor worked hard for his family at Wiseway for 30 years, and later retired as a meat cutter. He enjoyed bowling and gardening.

Victor is survived by his loving children, Vicki (Roger) Jutte of Placitas, NM, Mike (Lori) Silaghi of Louisville, KY, Jan (Jerry) Christ of Crown Point, IN, and Karen (Jim) Wachowski of Valparaiso, IN; and his grandchildren, Nick Lyman of Valparaiso, IN and Logan Wachowski of Valparaiso, IN.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Marie Silaghi; his parents, Ignat and Mary Silaghi; and his brothers, Emil Silaghi, Ignat Silaghi, Jr., and Peter Silaghi.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Burial at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
