Charles David Martin passed from this life on to his eternal home on May 22, 2018 in Plano, Texas with his family at his side. Chuck was born on May 20, 1950 to his parents, Franklin W. Martin and Viola L. Widick in Canyon City, Colorado. He shared his childhood with three siblings, Ronnie, Telitha, and Randy in Penrose, Colorado. Growing up, Chuck spent most of his summers helping his grandparents on their farm.
In 1968, Chuck graduated from Florence High School in Florence, Colorado. He, then, graduated from Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology and worked as an aircraft mechanic, dedicating 45 years of hard work. In his own words, he would say, “It was work.” Chuck was in the U.S. Navy, ADJ2. He served from November 19, 1969 through July 9, 1975. He received a Good Conduct Medal for his service and the National Defense Service Medal.
Chuck married his sweetheart, Joyce Thompson Martin, on April 13, 1978. Together, they shared 40 years of laughs and memories. Chuck welcomed his three stepchildren, Stephanie, Jason, and Joshua, and five grandchildren. Chuck had many hobbies including hunting, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed archery and woodworking. He was a fan of country music and enjoyed participating in the Native American Pow-Wows traditions.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin Wesley and Viola Louise Martin.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Martin; his stepchildren, Stephanie Jackson and her husband, Tori, of Dallas, Texas, Jason Robertson of Irving, Texas, and Joshua Robertson of Redlands, California; his grandchildren, Zachary Robertson of Las Cruses, New Mexico, Jeremy Robertson of Plano, Texas, Dixie Robertson of Garland, Texas, Cheyenne Robertson of Garland, Texas, and Madison Robertson of Plano, Texas; his siblings, Ronnie Martin and his wife, Mary, of Canyon City, Colorado, Telitha Ogawa and her husband, Ken, of Aurora, Colorado, and Randy Martin of Grand Junction, Colorado; and his nieces and nephews, Jenn Beirg and her husband, Adam, Bradley Ogawa, Jessica Martin, and Toni Martin.
