It has been almost one month since you left us (Nov 27 2025). You are missed every single day. We love you both.

Kareena says the top memories include watching childhood movies together, playing video games, choir shows and trips, shopping expeditions, & long talks about everything. A few months back, Kareena came home from school so excited that Cole had left the academy and was now a student at Jasper too. That news had made her day. One day they were talking about who everyone’s best friend is. The boys shared that each other was their best friend.  This display of sibling love & tightness of bond isn’t always found in families, or shared openly with others; but their relationship with one another was deep and real. 

Kareena was looking forward to many more times together. Cole had last shared about setting up a play date with the dogs, Frankie and Dazzle (Dazzle is our dog). What a nice idea.

There are more stories and memories of friendship that we will share with time. There are no words that can express the sorrow we feel. They forever hold a place in our hearts. Our time together is never forgotten.

Kareena would share stories with me and tell me about how both Huxley and Cole supported her. Their words were uplifting, encouraging, truthful. They would remind her that she should have a strong voice, persevere, and do what makes her happy. Huxley would say make every day a good one, so there are no regrets.  I heard from Kareena how this group, which included Huxley and Cole, checked in with each other every day, multiple times a day, shared stories, ideas & solutions, and laughs. They valued each of the group members and were close. I’m so glad that the friends shared how much they loved one another.

Another memory. Kareena & the twins embarking on an adventure.  Let’s rearrange the furniture in Kareena’s room.  Off they went rearranging!  By the time I heard the rustling, they were done and they were asking if they could help with any more rearranging! It ended up being a fun project, and the boys had no idea just how long this rearranging had been talked about at our house. They took care of the task, did so efficiently, and the look was better.

Another memory, at our house, is a time Kareena had a leg cramp unexpectedly. She ended up wincing and dropped to the floor. Both Huxley and Cole, in unison, dropped to the floor as well. They sat with her and asked if she was ok. They waited once the pain had passed. I happened to see this with my own eyes as I was walking by. The gentleness and compassion of their spirits was unmatched and is a rarity in today’s world.

As I look back on all the pics through the years, I see what a gift these boys truly were, and will always be. Just being themselves. They were authentic and remarkable.

Huxley & Cole. Our story with these two begins with their mom, Mandy. Our first meeting was 6th grade. One evening, my husband and I parked the car on the curb right outside her house. It was choir concert night. As we got out to walk to the school, Mandy was coming out her front door. I’ll never forget, how warm and friendly she was. She introduced herself, and we talked as we walked together to the school. She told us about her kids and her work as a teacher. After the show, we met Mandy again, as we were walking back to our car. At that time, she introduced us to her boys. She had a big smile as she introduced us to each of the boys. We learned their names and they each waved to us.

Fast forward, our kids have become friends. As parents, we hoped the good kids would find each other. And they did. As I got to know the boys, over the years, I grew to see how special and unique they were from other kids. These boys were years ahead of their time. Not like the average children you meet. Each encounter, the boys were polite, kind, and thoughtful towards us. I have a few memories I would like to share. This past Halloween, the boys were at our house. All the kids went trick of treating. They came back around 9ish, they were laughing, telling stories and jokes, and having a good time. I asked the kids if they might like to eat something as I wasn’t sure if they all had a chance to have dinner.  They each took some food. Huxley and Cole politely declined and said they were ok. I asked them a couple more times (typical of Indian moms), & I finally convinced them!  They said ok and decided on some chicken nuggets, chips, sweet potatoes, and OJ. Cole said to me, oh this is so great. Huxley chimed in too.  I thought it was only a simple gesture I offered and how appreciative and kind their response. It was really touching to see how they were free with their compliments, even to parents.

July 2023 in Waco, Texas when it was almost too hot to even swim in the pool

Breakfast for dinner, hooray! Feeding this hungry (and picky) bunch of boys was often a feat! There were many a taco night and often a spread of chicken nuggets, strawberries, goldfish, and baby carrots.

Even after the Gerrards moved away, it felt like we were able to just drop in and pick up where we left off. Our summer 2021 trip to Florida was memorable in a lot of ways: post beach video game fests, adventures on the banana boat, political messages in the sand, and a greasy spoon breakfast send-off on our last day.

Huxley had such a sweet and gentle soul.  He will be greatly missed.

When I first got the news, I couldn’t believe it. I thought it was an elaborate joke, that I’d be told that they were still here. And as I realized that they were truly gone, I thought of all of my regrets. Even though I was good friends with Cole, I was never able to truly become close to him again. I never got to thank Huxley for listening to all of the minor things that happened during the school day. I was never able to go out and go hang out with them in real life. They were such a big part of my life. They gave me a friend group that I could be a part of. Their silliness brought so much joy to my life and helped me decompress during stressful times. And I know for a fact that they touched so many other lives. No matter what happens in my life I will never forget them.

To Huxley and Cole’s loved ones,

I first met Cole through my 6th grade advisory. From the moment I knew him, he was always a joyous person at heart. He always wanted to help others and make them feel valued and loved. Whenever he was in the room, I could feel his positivity and it made the whole conversation better. He was always so carefree and goofy and as I got older and became more stressed, I respected that aspect of him even more. Even though we didn't talk as much in high school due to us not going to the same one, he was still a great person to talk to. We would talk about our common interests all the time ranging from Hollow Knight and Pokemon to random books that we read.

Huxley was just as amazing as his twin. Throughout the time that I knew him, he was always himself and no one else. He was silly, goofy, and a great person to hang out with. I always felt like he knew the best things to say in any situation whether that was lighting the mood, or comforting the ones around him. More than that, he slowly became my confidant during high school. It wasn’t really a conscious decision. The stress of high school, the pressure I put on myself to get the highest grades in the hardest classes, all of that was a lot. And whenever I needed to, I would just go up to Huxley and vent. And he would listen and understand where I was coming from, being surrounded by these same people. Even though it might have been annoying for him, he never once complained or seemed like he wanted me to stop.

Both these brothers were genuinely the best, here’s halloween 2023 in which I spent with them. We had so much fun playing angry birds, eating pizza, and listening to french music. Tons of candy too. No one was wearing costumes but Cole took liberty and dressed up as a banana, (and pulled it off incredibly well). One of the best experiences i’ve had with the two. Huxley and Cole were so kind and lovely people in general.

I'm glad I had the honor of being(briefly) Huxley's bus buddy in freshman year. I sat with him for around four months, and he was the kind of magical person who you felt a click as soon as you saw him speak or laugh for the first time. It felt light as air and conversation was so easy. I have small and silly, indifferent memories that he never held close to but I did. It broke my heart the first time and here he is, breaking it again(hah).

Although we grew apart, he's the kind of person you would never forget.

I send all my condolences to his brother, his family, and his dear friends. These two boys will always hold pieces of their hearts. Mine included.

I am deeply sorry for the loss of your precious boys. When I saw their photo, I could feel a sacred bond between them—something that goes beyond words or time. Twins often share a soul-connection, and I believe your sons came into this world side by side and returned Home the same way, held in light and in love.

I know this is an unimaginable grief, especially on a day like Thanksgiving. Right now, the pain is profound, and nothing feels fair or understandable. But I truly believe that their leaving together was not random—it speaks to the closeness of their spirits and the way their souls were meant to walk every step together, here and beyond.

May God, Spirit, and all those who love you surround your family with comfort, peace, and strength. As the days unfold, I hope there will be moments when you can feel them near you—still connected, still united, still watching over you with the same love they shared between themselves.

I am holding you in prayer and sending love for healing, strength, and grace.

To Huxley and Cole’s loved ones,

I first met Huxley in Humanities during our freshman year. Although we weren’t close at the time, I always remembered him as someone who carried a sense of joy with him.

This year in Algebra II, we happened to be seated next to each other, and Huxley made the class feel completely different. He always had a smile on his face, sometimes even while doing homework. He would hum quietly during class, joke around, and occasionally decide not to do any work at all. I remember him playing with the calculators and saying he should label them just so he’d know which ones he had already tried.

Even though we weren’t extremely close, I considered Huxley a friend. His carefree and joyful personality made the people around him feel lighter and happier. I’m grateful for the moments we shared, and I will always remember him that way.

Although I never got to know his twin brother, Cole, I am sure that he was just as amazing. I was devastated when I found out the news, and I am deeply sorry for the pain your family is going through. Huxley and most definitely Cole have touched more people at Jasper than you might've known. Their kindness and presence will most definitely stay with those of us who were lucky enough to get to know them. 

Please know that my thoughts are with your family, and I am wishing you immense amounts of strength, comfort, and eventual peace during this unimaginable time.

Oh, the laughter! I’m not sure the lake was ever more fun than with this gang. The songs, the endless jokes, and the dogs got so much love.

Maddie, Cole and Huxley went through this phase where they just loved everything hamster - and called themselves "happy hamsters". It was adorable - and all my photos from that year showed Maddie with her "paws up". Your boys were joy, light, and fun - all rolled into two delightful human beings.

This was from a bday party, I think? I think they were making a cake and decided to top it with dandelions - and that just says so much about the sweet joys of youth.

It was such a joy to be Huxley's first grade teacher. He was a quiet learner but his curiosity showed through the sparkle in his eyes and his side smile when he was excited to learn or do something new. His time with me in my classroom will not be forgotten.

Our memories of having Huxley in Jasper Choir will last forever. He, and now Cole whom we have adopted as an honorary member, will leave their mark in our classroom forever. Huxley was a dream student. He surrounded himself with great friends, truly such good people, and always was committed to choir 100%. I’m pretty sure half of the pictures of Huxley sleeping are somewhere in the choir room! And on our silly days he would let the girls torture him and do his makeup! But I’m pretty sure Huxley just loved having a good time, even if it was at his expense.  ❤️ My heart is shattered that the boys are gone, but we will continue to create the atmosphere that Huxley loved - in his honor and Cole’s honor.

One of my favorite memories: Medha gave Hux a pencil before his family trip to San Francisco and teased him that he'd lose it. Just to prove her wrong, he took that pencil everywhere and sent her photos of it by the Golden Gate Bridge, at the beach, in the airplane, and everywhere he went. He kept it for a while on his nightstand before he lost it when he was moving houses. It was the most adorable thing.
Sometimes I wish I hadn't been so strict with them. Maybe I could have relaxed a little more. He was such a well-behaved boy. He was the very first boy I ever allowed into Medha's room. He had earned that trust. During Diwali at our house, I loved watching him light fireworks with such joy. Recently, at a Gigi Perez concert, I saw Medha holding his hand in the car. I just let them be. Two teenagers sharing something sweet and pure.
When I learned Hux had a twin brother and an older brother, I thought it was wonderful. Medha is an only child, and I loved that he came with siblings. I always wanted to meet them all together, but I never got the chance.
In recent days, Medha and Hux had been growing even closer. They talked on the phone for hours on weekends and holidays, those long late-night conversations that only young love knows. I dreamed of taking them all to India before college: Medha, Huxley, Anayaa, Natalia, Alyssa, Andi, Aashvi and others, so they could celebrate together before life pulled them in different directions. It is strange how much Hux filled my heart, not just as Medha's friend, but as someone I had come to love too.
The day we learned Hux was gone, a lump filled my throat that hasn't left. I couldn't eat. I couldn't stop picturing them together, all the moments they had, all the ones they'll never have. My dreams of watching their love story unfold are gone. Medha's safe space is empty now.
Some part of me still hopes that one day, Hux will walk up to our door, knock, and say, "Oops, sorry. It was just a bad dream. I'm here."

Medha started inviting Huxley to all our family celebrations: Diwali, Golu, swim parties, movie nights. I loved watching their friendship, or maybe love blossom. It filled my heart. Whenever I imagined Medha's future, somehow Huxley was always in the picture.
It was the little things that showed me who he was. Once, without being asked, he carried all my grocery bags into the house and arranged them. Another time, while helping me unload groceries, he signed his name in the dust on the back of my car. I couldn't bring myself to wipe it away. It stayed there until the rain finally washed it off. He helped me fill tiny gift bags with nail polish and hair clips for a party. He cleaned up water I spilled before I could even react. He always asked, "Is there anything I can help with?" He was that kind of boy.
One cold, windy day, I picked him up from Jasper with Medha and Natalia. He didn't want to be a burden. I told him he never could be. After I dropped him off, Medha spent the whole ride home talking about how angelic he looked with his beautiful wavy hair blowing in the wind. Natalia and I just listened and smiled. It was so cute.

Their friendship grew quietly and beautifully over the years. He was witty. Their conversations were meaningful, funny, and full of life. As a mom, you watch your child make many friends, and most drift away with time. But then there are the ones who stay, the gems who stand the test of time. One of them was Huxley for Medha. He was her safe space. When she was upset with family, when life felt hard, Hux was there with no judgment, just kindness.
I could tell Hux liked her. A mom always knows. I saw how kind and caring he was with her. I once asked Medha, "Why are you looking elsewhere when you have a gem of a person right beside you?" She told me she had thought about it too, but she was afraid it might ruin the beautiful friendship they shared. She wanted to keep him forever.

Medha found her people at Rice Middle School, the friends who would change her life. Huxley was at the heart of that group. The first time I saw him, with his long curly hair and gentle presence, I thought to myself: this one is special.
He would wait with Medha when I was late to pick her up, walk her to the car, then run back to his house across the street. One day, I offered to drive him home, even though it was just across the street, because I wanted to know him a little more. That small moment gave me such happiness as a mom.

I have so many good memories with your family. Cole and Huxley were vibrant young boys who turned into vibrant young men. They were both incredibly attached to and in tune with one another, and the most different twins ever. They were hilarious, profound, spirited, and intelligent. They were sort of secretive (when they were little anyway!)  and openly totally themselves all along. I will never forget the African violet that Huxley gave Jules that sat on our dining room table for years, blooming again and again. I will never forget bananas and cheddar bunnies. I will never forget the wonderful chaos and laughter. Our family loved them, and we are left with a hole in our hearts that will never heal. Our family sends deepest condolences, love, and prayers to Clay, Mandy, and Will.
