

Daphnee Maxine West, 96, of Plano, Texas, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2022. She was born on July 25, 1926 in Cape Girardeau County, Missouri, and lived in the southeastern Missouri area until her late 80s. Daphnee met her future husband, Rex West, at Malden High school and knew immediately she wanted to spend the rest of her life with him. They married on May 6, 1943 during prom, between the banquet and the dance. Daphnee and Rex went on to spend 51 wonderful years of marriage together.
Daphnee worked as a florist for many years, when she and her husband owned and operated Juanita’s Flower & Gift Shop in Malden, Missouri. She had a great love for people and enjoyed when her social calendar was full. She was a member of Malden Country Club and various social clubs in the Malden area for many years. She valued her faith and enjoyed the fellowship from involvement at First Southern Baptist Church and the United Methodist Church in Malden and, most recently, at Parkway Hills Baptist Church in Plano. Daphnee loved dancing and golfing, especially with Rex. She enjoyed dinners with friends and time spent with family. Daphnee was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She truly adored her grandchildren and they enjoyed time spent with her. Daphnee was a sweet and caring person who had a wonderful sense of humor and was very strong-willed. Her zest for life, love for people, and devotion to family will always be remembered. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
Daphnee was preceded in death by her high-school sweetheart and husband, Rex; her parents, Henry and Christine (Miller) Jackson; her beloved Aunt Maggie Green; two brothers, W.H. & Billy Joe “Bill” Jackson; and daughter, Kay Lynne Adams. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rex & Ruth West of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Dave (Jennifer) West of McKinney, TX, Michelle (Mike) Griffin of Fayetteville, AR, Megan (Chris) Hallam of St Charles, MO, Jacob (April) West of McKinney, TX, Lance Adams of Benton, MO, Kalin Adams of Stillwater, OK, Traci (Greg) Nowak of Swansea, IL, and Eric Wiegers of Bellville, IL; great-grandchildren, Caden, Beckett, Kieran, Chloe, Abby, Zoey, Emily, Hannah, Kyrsten, Hudson, Emerson, Brittany, Logan, Jerry, Scott and one great-great grandson Macklin.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, October 22 at 10am at First Southern Baptist Church in Malden, Missouri with the Reverend Aulden LaBlanc officiating.
