Dorothy Fay “Dottie” Stevenson was received by our Lord on April 1st 2021. She was born in McAllen, Texas on August 9,1925. Her father was Bruce Stevenson of Forney Texas and her mother was Maggie Bernice Holcombe of Albany, Texas. Dottie had three sisters Elna Mathews of Houston, Texas, Bernice Francille Gifford of Richardson, Texas and Mary Nell Stevenson a resident of Dallas, whom served as a Sgt. In the Marine Corp. from 1942-1945. All family members mentioned above are deceased.
Dottie attended L.S.C.W (TWU) from 1944-1947; she received her BA degree in Foreign Languages. She majored in Spanish, with courses in French and her minor was in History. Her desire to fly was realized when she flew as a flight attendant with Pan-American Airways from 1948-1962. As Pan-Am only flew international routes, she flew from home bases in Miami, Houston and New York. Residences were in Beirut, Lebanon, London, Karachi, Pakistan and Singapore.
Upon returning to the States in 1968 she attended the First Baptist Church in Dallas, under the Pastorate of Dr. Criswell. It was there that she heard of the Wycliffe Bible Translators Outreach.
Her desire to travel was realized again, when she attended The University of Oklahoma. After finishing that course, she accepted an assignment as the House Hostess in Cochabamba, Bolivia from 1974-1979. Her Spanish was put to good use.
Upon her return to the States in September 1979, Dottie lived with her sister Bernice Gifford in Richardson. It was a blessing for Dottie to help her family and to be in attendance as the Lord called each one to be with Him forever. She looked forward to her reunion with family members as she joins that Heavenly Throng!
She requested that we share with everyone one of her favorite scriptures found in Numbers 6:24-26.
“The Lord bless you and keep you,
The Lord make His face shine upon you
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.”
It is requested that this be taken into one’s deepest heart, because that is from whence it was sent.
