Geneva Mae Smith

Geneva and Gary married on December 30, 1964. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Geneva lived a life defined by faith, love, and service to others.

Geneva was the ultimate helpmate to Gary. As a military wife, she was the glue the held the family together. Often being the only one to pack up an entire household and her young children to move to the next duty station. She was a “single mom” for months at a time while Gary was deployed or later as a pilot for Braniff and UPS. Geneva dedicated her life to her family and consistently sacrificed for them.

Besides being a wonderful wife to Gary, Geneva was a role model to her children and grandchildren and consistently communicated her love to them…nothing made her more proud. Granna loved them all unconditionally, celebrating every milestone and offering endless encouragement.

Her quiet strength and determination were evident in everything she did. Whether caring for loved ones, serving her church, or lending a hand to anyone in need, Geneva lived out her faith through action and kindness. Her home was a place of comfort, her words a source of wisdom, and her presence a reminder of warmth and unconditional love.

Geneva always met the many challenges she faced with unwavering grit and grace. She was feisty and never backed down when faced with innumerable challenges. In the midst of pain and struggle, she always had a smile for everyone which radiated the beauty she had from deep within her soul. She loved the Lord and leaned on Him to give her strength. We are all comforted by the fact that her new body in heaven is free from pain.

Geneva is survived by her husband of 60 years, Gary. Children Julie (Doug) Nickles and Nancy (James) Benton. Also surviving are her beloved 7 grandchildren Emily, Adam and Erik Nickles and Caroline (Wesley) Rucker, Kyle Sabolik, Bailey (Jake) Ebsen, and Bryce Benton and 2 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Carolyn Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents Glendon and Thelma Spurlock.
