Georgeanne Wilcox departed this life on Saturday, August 11, 2012, in Plano, Texas, after a brief illness. Ms. Wilcox was born April 5, 1957, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Norma Jean Edwards Wilcox and Henry Clay Wilcox. She grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana, where she attended Broadmoor Junior High, C. E. Byrd High School (1975) and LSUS. Georgeanne worked in the medical field for many years, serving as administrator for medical practices in Shreveport and Dallas. At the time of her death, she was a real estate agent for RE/MAX DFW Associates in Coppell, Texas. Georgeanne was a rare person who could light up a room without focusing attention on herself, make strangers feel that they had found in her a long-lost friend and find beauty in ordinary things. She had compassion for everyone but especially children and the elderly. She lived her life by her Father’s prayer “Make us ever mindful of the needs of others”. George was devoted to her family. She took regular trips with her sisters Marcia Leigh Howell of Marshall, Texas, Mary Paige Woodfin of Kilgore, Texas, and Kimberly Keckler of Plano, Texas. She loved times spent with her nieces, Vangie and Grady Jane Woodfin, and her nephews, Sam and Ben Howell. In addition to her sisters, nieces and nephews, Georgeanne is survived by her brothers-in-law, Steven Howell of Marshall, Texas, and Stephen Woodfin of Kilgore, Texas, Uncle George Edwards of Atlanta, Georgia, Stepmother Linda Wilcox of Shreveport, Louisiana, long-time companion, Carter Hart of Coppell, Texas, and her beloved dog, Chance. The family of Georgeanne Wilcox would like to express its sincere appreciation to the caring and compassionate staff at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. She also never met a dog she did not love, and the family requests that any donations in memory of Georgeanne be made to The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). Please send donations to the address of Kim Keckler at 2625 Lawndale Dr. Plano, TX 75023. A memorial service is set for Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, located at 8011 Frankford Road, Dallas, Texas 75252.
