She is survived by her husband, John Stratton of Dallas, Texas, sister Rosemary Ferlauto of Richardson, Texas, and many nephews and nieces. Glorian leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness through cherished memories of those who knew and loved her.
Glorian was born July 4, 1932, in Calexico, California, to Charley R. Willingham and Ann Adele Mulligan. She was raised in San Pedro and Long Beach, California, where she graduated from St. Anthony’s High School in Long Beach, California.
Upon graduation, she joined the Immaculate Heart of Mary sisterhood. She served as the music director at Cathedral Chapel of St. Vibiana in Los Angeles, California, and was the music teacher and principal at St. Bartholomew elementary school in Long Beach, California. While part of the Immaculate Heart Community, she earned her PhD in education at Rochester University in New York and served the underprivileged through the IBM community outreach program. After leaving the Immaculate Heart Community she moved to North Texas to be close to her mother and sister where she became a partner in RG Shoes. Working in retail, Glorian realized that she missed serving others and decided to work for the Girl Scouts of America. Glorian married John Stratton in 1987 and together started a franchise of Maids on Call until retirement.
Glorian led an extraordinary life, was a savvy businesswoman, tenacious negotiator, talented musician and kind-hearted with a smile for all. She enjoyed music and animals, adopting many stray pets throughout the years. Eventually, she raised a myriad of ducks that brought her much joy. Glorian was always up for fun, celebrating her birthday with an annual dive into a cool swimming pool on a hot Texas 4th of July. She treasured the time sharing her talents and teaching her grandnieces how to tap dance and play the piano. Glorian had a playful spirit and always laughed while playing games with family, including chess, cards, Wii, and Pictionary. Glorian’s fun-spirit and kind heart will be missed by all who knew her.
