Jimmie Michael McElroy, age 74, and his devoted wife, Debbra Joyce McElroy, age 72, beloved parents, grandparents, siblings and friends, passed away only days apart, reunited in the presence of their Lord and Savior. Jimmie went to be with the Lord on October 13, 2025, following a tragic accident. Debbie joined him on October 20, 2025, embracing once more the love of her life.
Jimmie (Mike) was born on July 17, 1951 in Fort Worth, Texas, to Jimmie McElroy and Charlene Bagby. He grew up in Fort Worth alongside his two older brothers and attended Polytechnic High School. Following high school, he served in the Air Force Reserves and began his lifelong career in the auto parts industry.
Debbra (Debbie) was born on January 14, 1953 in Fort Worth, Texas, to Wilson and Pat McMillion. She was raised in Fort Worth alongside her three younger sisters and graduated from Southwest High School in 1971. She began her studies at Baylor University before transferring to the University of Texas at Arlington, where she earned her degree in Accounting. Their life together began in 1974 in Fort Worth when they met while working in the auto parts industry. They were married on October 11, 1975 and soon welcomed two daughters, Stacie and Cassie.
In 1977, Jimmie began working at WM Automotive, a family-owned business where he earned the respect of the industry, his employees, and coworkers through his hard work and dedication. Debbie, meanwhile, devoted herself to raising their daughters and volunteering in countless ways at their schools and at the family’s longtime church home, Wedgwood Baptist. Later, she joined Mike at WM Automotive in an administrative role.
As they neared retirement, the couple moved to Austin, Texas to be closer to their grandchildren. Mike began working at Arnold Oil Company, while Debbie moved to Chase Bank, from which they would ultimately retire.
Family-both immediate and extended-was their greatest joy in life, and they went to great lengths to show this passion. Their journey took them from Fort Worth to Austin and eventually to Rockwall, where they found their deepest fulfillment in caring for their daughters and grandchildren. They could often be found in the stands or in the audience, cheering on their grandkids, nieces and nephews with unwavering pride. They also shared a love of travel and, earlier this year, fulfilled a lifelong dream of visiting all fifty states.
Their lives demonstrated the essence of loving God and loving others. They were always quick to help those in need with both their time and resources. They will be remembered for their generosity, as well as for their unconditional love and acceptance of others. Their presence touched many lives and they will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved them.
Debbie and Mike leave behind a legacy of love in their family. They are survived by their daughters, Stacie Nichols and husband Mike, and Cassie Blackwell and husband Derek. They cherished their role as grandparents to Avery, Caden, Larkin, Harlow and Piper.
Mike is also survived by his father, Jimmie McElroy; his brothers Charlie McElroy and Terry McElroy and wife Debbie.
Debbie is also survived by her sisters Gina Kudrna and husband Greg, Teri Pittman, and Tamie Castles and husband Garry.
Together, they are survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family whom they loved deeply.
Funeral services celebrating their lives will be held at Hunters Glen Baptist Church in Plano, Texas on Wednesday, October 29th, 2025 at 11:30 AM. There will be a reception prior to the service at 10:00 AM.
