Joann West

Joann was born in Austin on June 6, 1943, to Judith and John R. Pedigo, Sr. She graduated from A&M Consolidated High School, College Station, in 1961 where she was a charter member of the Bengal Bells drill team, voted most athletic girl, and member of the student council. She was loved and admired by her classmates who could always depend on her sincere love and support.

She married Robert L. West in 1962, and they had two children, Laurie and Robert L. West, Jr.

Joann was a resident of San Angelo from 1976 until 2018, and a member of Bentwood Country Club. Joann’s joy in life was her many friends and playing golf. She was also an avid gardener and bridge player. She moved to Frisco in 2018 to be closer to her children and granddaughters.

Joann had a kind heart and a wonderful sense of humor. Her smile would light up the whole room. She cared deeply for the people around her. She was kind and compassionate. She made an impact on many lives. She was truly a woman for all times and seasons. She will be forever missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Judy, and her husband. Joann is survived by her children, Laurie and Greg Younger of Kerens and Robert L. West, Jr. of Frisco; granddaughters Madeline West, Megan West, and McKenna Humphreys, who called her “Mimi” and were a tremendous source of joy, peace and comfort to her; sister Alice Larimore (husband Jack) of New Braunfels; brother John R. Pedigo, Jr. (wife Mary) of Franklin; and four nieces and two nephews.

Joann is also loved and remembered by her lifelong friends BB Stumbaugh, Donna Mogle, Shirley Wallace, and Bob White.

No services are scheduled. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and a warm hug to Shawnte Perry, Signature Lifestyle Director, Watermere at Frisco, and her team for their friendship and outstanding living environment under their care. They would also like to thank the staff of Texas Health Hospital Frisco and VITAS Healthcare Inpatient Hospice Unit.
