Katherine Gormley Cointment

Katherine Gormley Cointment, age 83, passed away on November 24, 2023. Kay was born on October 17, 1940 in Vivian, Louisiana to Rose Ferguson Gormley and Richard Edward Gormley. She grew up in Leesville, Louisiana, attending Leesville High.

She attended Louisiana State University, where she met her husband Joe, marrying in 1959. Together they enjoyed playing golf and duplicate bridge, traveling, particularly on cruises, and watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys and LSU Tigers. She had a quick wit, was an excellent cook, and enjoyed entertaining, always decorating her house for every holiday. She loved animals, particularly her dogs and grand-dogs, and was happiest when surrounded with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Delma Cointment III, her parents, and son-in-law Steve Moore.

She is survived by daughter Kitty Polly; daughter Carolyn Nolan and husband David; sisters Carolyn Jesse and husband Chuck, Alison Thompson, and Frances Davis and husband Allen; sisters-in-law Janie LeBlanc and husband Jerry, Chinkie Cointment and partner Patsy Picard, nephews Kendrick LeBlanc (Carla), Stephen LeBlanc, David LeBlanc, Chris Davis (April), nieces Jane Edwards (Kevin), Jenna Pourciau (Greg.)

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 6, from 3:00 – 7:00 PM at Ted Dickey West Funeral home. Funeral service and burial will be held at a later date in Plaquemine, Louisiana.
