Kim McCarty, a man of numerous stories and infectious laughter, departed this life at the age of 73 in Dallas, TX on April 27, 2024. Born on April 17, 1951, in Jamestown, North Dakota, Kim’s life was nothing short of an adventure-packed journey spread across the United States.
Kim married Tracy McCarty on February 26, 1982, and together they built a home filled with love, joy, and three beautiful children. The family was the canvas upon which Kim painted his life's masterpiece - a vibrant tapestry of laughter, pranks, and cherished memories.
Kim's professional life was devoted to Averitt Trucking, where he contributed 35 years of impeccable service. His career was as straight as the roads he drove - without a single ticket. Kim also passed his knowledge to younger generations as an instructor, often peppering his lessons with anecdotes from his days on the road.
A natural-born storyteller, Kim possessed an extraordinary knack for spinning tales about his childhood and his adventures on the road. His stories were always accompanied by a twinkle in his eyes and a contagious laugh that had the power to light up any room. Kim relished in the art of pulling pranks, always ready with a mischief-laden grin. His pranks, though surprising, were never cruel and always left his loved ones in splits of laughter.
Kim's love for the outdoors was undeniable. Fishing, camping, and simply spending quality time with friends and family were some of the activities that brought him the most joy. His later years were spent at his senior community, where he was often the life of the party, hosting events, playing pool, and attending happy hours on Fridays. Even in his twilight years, his spirit remained young and vivacious.
Kim's legacy is one of love and laughter. He will be remembered as a kind-hearted jokester and a staunchly loyal father, grandfather, and friend. His memory will continue to bring smiles to the faces of those who were lucky enough to know him.
Kim is preceded in death by his wife, Tracy McCarty; daughter, Brandi Rushing; brothers, Gene McCarty, Jack McCarty; and parents, Albert and Blanche McCarty. He is survived by his children, Jeremy Robbins, Jenn Burks and her husband Josh; and grandchildren, Deserie Rushing, Connor Rushing, Hogan Burks, and Palmer Burks. Kim's stories, laughter, and love will continue to live on through them.
