He was born on September 10, 1954, in Gary, Indiana to Obie Lee & Cora Lee Utley. Kim was raised in East Gary, Indiana & Portage, Indiana, and graduated from Chrysler High School in 1972. As a child, Kim once won 1st place for reading 60 books in a single school year. A true musician, Kim taught himself to play the guitar and was in a rock & roll band in the 70s in Los Angeles.
Kim was a true patriot who loved his country, until the end, and proved that patriotism by serving for 4 years in the Air Force, and was honorably discharged as Sgt. In 1976.
He was a Senior Vice President at Sims, Inc., where he worked for more than 30 years. With his naturally curious mind, he was able to teach himself what he needed to know regarding computer programming and Internet design.
In his spare time, Kim always enjoyed music, whether playing it or listening to it, going for drives in his beloved Porsches, and his dogs, and had a keen love for Yorkies in particular, cooking, gardening & scuba diving. He had a tremendous appetite for reading, especially science fiction novels.
His family and friends will always remember him as a man of few words, funny with a dry sense of humor, and extremely generous to those he loved.
