

Richard Spear, 83, of Plano, Texas, passed away January 5, 2026 after a 15-year courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Richard served the Lord by modeling values of duty, love, kindness, and respect to his family and others around him.
He was born in Glen Burnie, Maryland on September 29, 1942 as the youngest son of Edwin and Lottie Spear. He was brother to Doug Spear. Richard graduated from the University of Baltimore and received a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management.
He honorably served his country for six years as a medic in the US Army and later in the Army Reserve.
He was married to Lauretta Louise Holt on September 5, 1970.
Richard worked in the transportation industry for The Texas Department of Transportation for 35 years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church Hebron in Carrollton, Texas and had a passion for gardening, fishing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Lauretta Spear, two daughters Lisa Anne Giseburt and Laura Susan Spear, and two grandchildren Jack Edward Giseburt and Hudson Moore Giseburt.
Richard spent the last five years of his life at Alma Residential Care.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 8, 2026 from 4-6pm at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, 7990 President George Bush Turnpike, Dallas, Texas 75252. Funeral arrangements will be held January 9, 2026 at 10am at First Baptist Church Hebron, 3000 E Hebron Pkwy, Carrollton, Texas 75010. Internment of the remains will follow at the family plot at Furneaux Cemetery at 3650 Cemetery Hill Rd, Carrollton, Texas 75007.
