Stephen ("Steve") Lee LaGrone, age 60, passed away on March 1, 2013, in Plano, TX. He was born on May 16, 1952, in Chattanooga, TN to Chester and Jeanne LaGrone. Steve married Cherie on May 25, 1974 in Newark, Delaware. Shortly thereafter, Steve graduated from the University of Delaware and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Steve's career path from start to finish was in healthcare administration. Steve held positions at hospitals located in Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Texas. For the past 8 years, Steve has been employed by Medical City Dallas Hospital with his most recent position as Director of Physician Services.
Steve was truly a family man who loved his children. Steve has two children, Matt and Corrie, who were the love of his life. Steve has always enjoyed spending time with his children and through his death cherished a very close relationship with them. In addition to spending time with his children, one of Steve's favorite past time was playing with his two grandchildren, Maddie (4) and Gavin (2), and was so excited that his third grandchild had just arrived 12 days before his passing. Steve enjoyed being silly, acting like a big kid and making his grandchildren laugh and adore their "Pop-Pop." Even Maddie's cousins were instantly infatuated with Pop-Pop and would often cry to their parents hoping he would stay and have a slumber party with them.
Steve enjoyed being outside and for many years was an avid tennis player, spending much time on the tennis courts with his two children who eventually became too good for even Dad to beat. Steve always enjoyed playing golf with his friends, co-workers and son Matt.
Music was a big part of Steve's life, and loved playing the guitar and singing. Matt and Corrie have fond memories of Dad strumming the guitar and singing to them at bath time. Steve shared his love of music and dance with his grandkids as well, dancing to Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus with granddaughter Maddie.
Steve and Cherie were recently blessed with a new home in Plano which afforded them more time with his grandchildren and opportunity to entertain. Steve was a great cook and took pride in hosting family gatherings on weekends to display his newest culinary creations.
Anyone that knew Steve, quickly discovered that Steve had an infectious personality and great sense of humor. Steve had a gift of making anyone laugh, at anytime. Steve was always the life of any party or get together.
Steve shared life with his loving wife, Cherie, in marriage for 38 years. Steve and Cherie were very much in love and enjoyed life to its fullest to the very end. Cherie feels blessed to have shared this journey with Steve that was graced with loving children, grandchildren, family, and friends.
